Ambassadors for Christ: Malmö | April 1-9, 2007

“The faithful ambassador of Christ is not ashamed of the banner of truth,”1 wrote Ellen White. This year, over 200 young people from across Sweden, Denmark, and Norway came to the Ambassadors for Christ Easter week to be equipped to share the gospel with others through personal and public outreach. ”I think this week has been marvellous! I know more about meeting people, and how to present what we have learned in the right way. It was incredible, inspiring, and helpful” wrote one girl at the close of the week.

The week was filled with the Holy Spirit. God’s presence was evident as inspiring, encouraging, and insightful teaching was presented and young people became excited to learn how to share their faith with others and be more effective witnesses. This years speakers included, Scott Moore, USA;
Dr. Viriato Ferreira, Portugal; Ingelis Jensen, Denmark; and Sebastian Tirtirau, Canada. At the close of the week God’s blessings were also unmistakably apparent as six young people were baptized and many more made decisions to prepare for baptism or missionary service.

Each afternoon everyone had the opportunity to put to practice what they had learned as they went on outreach: participating in a health expo, going door-to-door with surveys, or inviting people to the Total Life Seminars, the public evening meetings.

The health expo was visited by about a 1000 people in just four afternoons. During this expo, the public was given the opportunity to receive health testing, counselling, and massage therapy, all free of charge, and then introduced to LifeStyleTV as a resource for further information. As a result of the health expo, 150 people from the community requested further information on various subjects such as prophecy, vegetarian cooking, stress management, and fitness. It was a wonderful experience to be able to reach people through ministering to their needs and showing an interest in their well-being.

Speakers for 2007

Scott Moore (USA) is a teacher and the Evangelism Coordinator at the ARISE school.

Scott was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. He was raised in a Christian home, but did not dedicate his life to Christ until the age of 27.

Shortly after his conversion, Scott left his job as a truck driver to attend the Mission College of Evangelism. It was here that he developed his passion of getting all members of the church to be on fire and involved in doing evangelistic ministry inside and outside of the church.

Scott joined the ARISE team two years ago, and functions as the evangelism coordinator. Scott also teaches several classes at ARISE and preached the evangelistic campaign in 2005.

Scott and his wife Melanie have five children, Danny (12), Daniel (9), Jason (9), Brandon (6), Samantha (2). On the rare occasion when Scott is not out fishing for men, he can be found in hip waders fishing for fish.

Dr. Viriato Ferreira (Portugal) serves as the director of Health Ministries in the Euro-Africa Division.

Currently Viriato and his wife operate VitaSalus, a medical center and ministry in Lisbon, Portugal. VitaSalus helps to organize Health Expos, where thousands of people come in contact with health professionals and lay volunteers, to learn more about how to be healthier and happier.

Ingelis Jensen (Denmark) works for the Danish Union of Seventh-day Adventists as the Bible Worker for the Holbæk and Roskilde Adventist Churches in Denmark.

Ingelis has years of experience both from Denmark and the mission field. Ingelis will share her local knowledge and experience
of sharing the Gospel in Scandinavia.

Sebastian Tirtirau (Romania) is the President and Founder of the Pilgrim Relief Society, an organisation who’s mission is to reach the remote tribes of the world with the Gospel.

For the past 10 years Sebastian has been working with the bushmen of the Kalahari desert, the Amazonian tribes and the Arctic Inuit people of Northern Canada and Greenland delivering Bibles in their native languages.

Sebastian will share his amazing experiences of reaching people in difficult and dangerous places, like the Kalahari desert and the Arctic.
